Cradles expressed sincere gratitude for their community and were more than happy to wrap up the airdrop event in appreciation of our loyal followers. Behind the scenes, the Cradles team is hard at work on Game, Partnership, and IDO development. The following AMA with Cradles Founder, T.Y, was to keep our community up to date on progress and updates.
MAIN GAME DEVELOPMENT ON UNITY 5
Unreal Engine 5 (UE5) was a platform Cradles investigated originally and it seems feature rich and really awesome. Once the team dug deeper into UE5, they found many unexpected features. Some of the features were ‘heavy’ and required long term development for several functions and flexibility was severely lacking. For example, creating a mobile game on UE5 was extremely challenging and developing on this platform may cause Cradles to lose several mobile gamers. In addition, Cradles found the UE5 is best suited for single-player 3A PC games. In the end, Cradles decided UE5 is too early for use in the current test version and the many bugs made it not a viable option for a game the scope and size of Cradles.
Cradles finally decided to use Unity 5 to develop the game. Cradles had several deep conversations with the Unity official team and feel this platform will satisfy all our needs. In addition, DRepublic already has several years of experience developing high-quality 3A games based on Unity so it is a natural fit.
The quality of the game built on Unity will be unparalleled and Cradles will soon release sneak peaks of in-game landscape early next month.
CRADLES MOBILE VERSION
The question of a Mobile Version is now obvious. Cradles will be available for mobile gamers, but the PC version will be published first.
THE CRADLES DAO
The Cradles DAO was hinted at in the last AMA, and Cradles has confirmed that there will be a DAO. The purpose of the DAO is to allow the players to enjoy the games as well as let the DAO members have core player or VIP status in all Cradles related mini-games. What this means is Cradles will not have just one mini-game. Cradles will hold special airdrop events and discussions within the DAO. This will not be a traditional DAO, because nothing Cradles does is traditional. This will function like a DAO guild. More details will be released in the future, the designs for the DAO are currently under development and we want to make sure it benefits all the early supporters of Cradles.
THE CRADLES SIDECHAIN
Cradles has multi-chain plans, especially for the sidechain. As an NFT game, and one that is unlike any existing NFT game, special considerations need to take place. Cradles does not just record simple data on the blockchain. Cradles record each NFT combination, separation, and all sorts of operations related to Cradles on the blockchain. This will result in a high volume of on-chain transactions. Cradles is unsure if BSC and Polygon can fully support the game without any latency, so we have started development of a side-chain to fully support the transactions.
There might be some experience on BSC for supporting high volume transactions related to DeFi, but as for games, there are no such high volume transaction games before Cradles, so a stable blockchain system is necessary. The sidechain will only support DRepublic Games, Cradles, and the mini-games.
We considered several chains. Some asked about ICP, but they have a different structure, and we would need to change our tech structure for it. Immutable X was another consideration, but we will try BSC first.
COLLABORATIONS WITH OTHER METAVERSE PROJECTS
As stated previously, Cradles will absolutely collaborate with other projects. Illuvium CEO has already invested in Cradles, and other high-quality games will bring some interesting partnerships. The possibilities are endless in a game designed like Cradles. There could be a game instance in which players see spaceships vs. dinosaurs. The collaboration potential is not limited. These things will happen one at a time though, because DRepublic likes to develop things properly.
PERSON TO PERSON TRADING IN GAME
Person-to-person trading will look different in Cradles. In some games a pop-up window displays, and players can put items in and approve trades. But that is all that a marketplace does these days. Since Cradles is a 3D game, we don’t want to offer similar features to a flat marketplace in game. It just wouldn’t be sexy enough for Cradles. Cradles will have a place for players to make deals, person-to-person, and in real world ways, not just like a marketplace on a website.
DRAGONTAR ACCESSORIES
Players can get new items for their Dragontars by winning and buying in the mini-game. We’ve designed some suits for the Dragontars as well in the mini-games. There will be options, and we can’t wait to watch our community customize their D-tars. More leaks on this news is coming soon.
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A PLAYER INJECTS THEMSELVES INTO AN ANIMAL
Injecting into an animal is a small gameplay, the main gameplay is an open world MMORPG. The whitepaper is currently being updated to provide more design details of the game. A litepaper is coming as well to give a quick overview for newcomers.
DRAGONTAR BREEDING
Before we developed EIP 3664, Cradles did plan to use a breeding mechanism for the Dragontars to reproduce. With EIP 3664, we found a better way to do that. Now Dragontars can upgrade in a more perfect mechanism. This benefits all early players, and we will release more details in the coming weeks.
IS METACORE AND LEGOOT INTEGRATED INTO CRADLES
Legoot will not be a part of the main game, it is a separate product, developed to let all users know and experiment with EIP-3664. We know our community is intelligent, and wants to understand the technology behind the game, so Legoot offers a place to experiment and visualize the power of EIP-3664. With that said, Cradles will provide special rewards for Legoot holders. The Metacore system will be expanded to be the next generation NFT marketplace and workplace.
THE ROLE OF THE DRAGONTAR IN THE MINI-GAME
Cradles NFTs can be used everywhere. In the main game, the Dragontars will be pets that follow your character. The pet system is one of the most important features of Cradles. There will be so many more leaks about this in the future. This project began in May, and the progress has been fast. Our team is small but developing at the pace of other projects with 100+ developers. Keep your eyes peeled on the community and all will be revealed in time. The website is undergoing refinement as well and we can’t wait to unveil it.
DRAGONTAR NFT SALE
The Dragontar NFT sale will occur shortly after the airdrop finishes. The winners will be able to enjoy their Dragontar in the testnet of the combinable system. We will then open the Dragontar Club website for users to buy one to play the game.
UPGRADEABLE DRAGONTARS
Rumors have been going around about level 2 Dragontars and many in the community want to know what this means and how they level up their Dragontar. More details on this will be coming soon. Eventually, holders will be able to upgrade their Dragontars on our website instead of in the main game. Within the mini-game, players will be able to upgrade their Dragontars within the game. Your Dragontar can also protect your character and help the character get more fish.
MINIMUM PC REQUIREMENTS FOR PLAYING
Many in the community are so hyped they want to upgrade their PCs or start purchasing new devices devoted to Cradles. Unfortunately, we do not have a specific requirement for PC yet, but will hope to be able to provide this answer soon.
IDO
The IDO will occur around December 2021 or January 2022 hopefully. Cradles is planning a special way to conduct the IDO, since we like to do everything a little differently. We have not seen another project conduct an IDO in this way. We plan to let all the early supporters enter the IDO. KYC will be required, but all details are still in the discussion stages with the team. More details about the IDO will come out next month.
